When water infiltrates your home it gets into every nook and cranny that it can reach. It is a very invasive liquid because of its little viscosity. This becomes a big problem because water that is left untreated can turn into mold under certain circumstances. These circumstances being if the water is left in a dark and cool space and remains untreated for a at least 48 hours. 

Water can also cause a mass amount of structure damage as well. In a large quantity it can literally tear through your walls and wood with the pressure of its weight alone. Also water is corrosive to certain materials that are found in your home, meaning that if left untreated, water can eat away at housing structures weakening them and increasing the danger of staying in your home without you even knowing it.
